Each one brought decades of expertise, loyal customers, and a reputation for quality — and together, they've shaped who we are today. Below is a short history of the stores that have become part of the Havertown Carpet family.
Reinhart Carpet Outlet
2020
Reinhart Carpet Outlet has roots dating back to 1895 as a long-standing Philadelphia-area family business focused on window coverings and blinds, then eventually adding carpet as well. Reinhart Carpet was reborn in the early 1990’s by Fred Reinhart. Known for operating as a stocking retailer, it evolved to focus on discounted carpets, remnants, and vinyl. They carried large, on-hand inventory at their warehouse in Northwest Philadelphia, which allowed for competitive pricing and quick availability.
By 2015, Reinhart began to undergo a transition to expand stock options and focus on higher quality products with professional installation. By 2020, Reinhart had rebranded as Havertown Carpet Co. and the warehouse was converted to a production facility to meet the growing demand of volume of installation and shop-at-home sales.
2021
Ascot Carpets was founded in 1952 by Nick Amadio and Vince Lazarro. Working out of a small dry-room in North Hills, PA, the brothers-in-law specialized in the cleaning and repair of domestic and Oriental rugs. After relocating to a warehouse in Norwood affectionately known as “the plant,” they slowly built a loyal customer base throughout Delaware, Montgomery, and Chester counties, and by the late 70s had expanded operations to include the installation of wall-to-wall carpet.
With Nick and Vince’s retirement in the early 1990s, Jerry Amadio (nephew of the late co-founders) took over the business, setting up shop in Upper Darby on the same street where his grandfather once lived. Sought after by interior decorators for his sewing and binding expertise, Jerry began fabricating area rugs and stair runners for customers on the Main Line, including Julius Erving, Will Smith, and Jim Gardner. In 2021, Jerry partnered with Havertown Carpet Company, where, alongside the next generation of rug men, he continues to practice his humble, blue-collar art.
2022
Fred Callaghan Carpet & Flooring Center was founded in 1925 as a Pennsylvania-based hardwood floor business located in Delaware County. Over nine decades, the family owned and operated company evolved into a full-service flooring provider- adding carpets, vinyl, and ceramics by the 1960’s. The Callaghan family moved to its current warehouse and showroom location on Lancaster Avenue in Frazer, and was an integral part of rapid growth and expansion in the area in the 1970’s. Known for three generations of excellence in the flooring industry, Callaghan’s was acquired and transitioned into Havertown Carpet Co in 2022.
2025
Fisher’s Carpet One Floor & Home was founded in 1921 by Dante DiRocco in Upper Darby and has evolved through multiple generations. Dante started cleaning and repairing oriental rugs in his home garage. What began as a humble craft grew into a flourishing business as word of Dante’s expertise spread.
By the 1930s, Dante had opened the first store in Upper Darby, PA. His son continued the legacy in 1947, upholding a commitment to top-quality craftsmanship. Over the years, Fisher’s business expanded to Edgemont in the 1970s and ultimately to West Chester in 1988, where our flagship store proudly continues to serve the local community at 1572 Wilmington Pike in West Chester.
Fisher’s Carpet One was owned and operated by Lee Fisher and has been a cornerstone of the West Chester, PA community, offering a vast selection of high-quality flooring options. With a commitment to staying at the forefront of flooring trends and technology, coupled with our spotless showroom and extensive product range, Fisher’s set itself apart.
In 2025, Havertown Carpet Co. proudly merged with Fisher’s Carpet One. This acquisition was a natural fit, rooted in a shared, long-standing commitment to customer satisfaction and excellence in the flooring industry.
Fisher’s Carpet One Floor and Home has been rebranded as Havertown Carpet One Floor and Home to align with our brand identity. We look forward to serving Fisher's loyal customer base, along with all our current and future customers, in West Chester, Glen Mills, Chadds Ford, and the surrounding communities for many years to come.
